Welcome
Pardon our dust as we build a website to support the mission of the Lubabalo project.
Welcome to Lubabalo.com (pronounced Luba-ba-lu).
The Lubabalo Project is an alliance of non-government organizations that includes Oceans of Mercy, Shoal Creek Community Church, Westside Family Church, Indian Creek Community Church, HuntSA, and Partners in Ministry. Together we are targeting economic growth and the fight against AIDS in the Transkei region of South Africa. This area has been devastated by the political and economic impact of Apartheid and is now struggling with the social and health impacts of HIV/ADIS.
Lubabalo, the Xhosa word for grace, is an attempt to bring physical and social healing with nutrition and disease prevention programs, economic viability through skills training, and spiritual nourishment to provide hope.
The country of South Africa currently has more people infected by AIDS than any other nation. Every 14 seconds a child in Africa is orphaned by AIDS and by 2010, Africa will have 40 million orphans.
Lubabalo is focusing its initial efforts on this most helpless population in the Transkei. Lubabalo will feed, clothe and educate children who have lost their parents due to the AIDS pandemic.
With your help we can make a difference in the nourishment, education, and hope in these kids' lives, and help them become seeds of change in their world.
