Purpose
The Eyes on AIDS 5k Run/Walk is a community fundraising event for Oceans of Mercy and the Lubabalo Project, coordinated by Shoal Creek Community Church. All of the proceeds go directly to help meet the needs of children orphaned by AIDS in South Africa. The Lubabalo Project, supported by Oceans of Mercy and located in Bukwini, South Africa, is a multi-faceted venture providing housing, food, clothing, love, teaching, and encouragement to the orphans. The country of South Africa currently has more people infected by AIDS than any other nation. Every 14 seconds a child in Africa is orphaned by AIDS. With your help we can make a difference in these kids' lives!

Form a Team
Want to get some friends together to make a difference in a child's life? Are you the member of a family who believes every child in this world deserves a chance? Do you work with a crazy crowd who loves to combine exercise with a good cause?
Whatever the size or makeup of your group, sign up to form a team to run or walk in the Eyes on AIDS 5k today!
Teams get the special advantage of:
- Having one of the many special AIDS orphans from the project area, Bukwini, South Africa, assigned to your team.
- Getting to know your team's child through photographs and bios.
- Getting the chance to communicate with your team's child through letters.
- Having exclusive banners for each team member to wear on their back during the race. The banners will have a picture of your team's child as well as a bold statement: "We're running for (child's name)" along with their picture. It will also feature your team's name, letting everyone recognize the wonderful work your group is doing to support Bukwini's orphans.
- Having optional donation and child sponsorship opportunities. Official sponsorship/fundraising program to come next year.
- Supporting one another in completing the 5k. Whether running or walking, sometimes you just need that extra push!
- Having fun as you enjoy not only the race together, but all the race day activities.
- Knowing you and your team members are not only doing something to help the orphans of South Africa but that you are doing it together.
